Beauty Pie Pati Dubroff Essentials Kit Review

It’s very clear by now that I have a huge amount of love for Beauty Pie

The subscription skincare and makeup brand keeps going from strength to strength, adding great new products all the time. From supplements to silk pillowcases, there’s a lot they’ve tried out.

In fact, almost all of my skincare routine is from the brand, and increasingly more and more of my daily must-have makeup as well. If you’re wondering how Beauty Pie works, want to take a closer look at some of the skincare, see the Japanfusion skincare line, or take a look at some of Beauty Pie’s best new launches, I got you covered!

I know there’s a lot of love and curiosity about the brand, so I thought I’d share some my latest order. I was so excited to try some of these items. When I pulled up on my drive and spotted my postie I practically rugby tackled him - hey, gotta get that pink box magic, right? If you know, you know!

Futurelipstick Luxe Shine - Master Sweet (£25.00/ £6.84)

Beauty Pie Futurelipstick Luxe Shine Master Sweet review

Beauty Pie Futurelipstick Luxe Shine Master Sweet review Charlotte Tilbury dupe

The formula of the Futurelipstick line is one of my all-time favourites. It’s really moisturising and comfortable to wear, nicely pigmented but also gives a flattering, glossy sheen that manages to be completely non-sticky.

This combination of attributes makes it pretty much perfect for me. It reminds me an awful lot of the ‘Huggable’ lipsticks that Mac used to do.  Packed with precious plant oils, it has a really pretty, gently plumping effect that’s super flattering and is just so comfortable to wear.

I usually buy the shade ‘You Sexy Thing’, which is a sort of sheer tawny brown with very subtle golden sheen, but I decided to mix it up and try ‘Master Sweet’, which is a peachier nude. It’s such a gorgeous shade for spring.

Superbrow Angled Shaping Pencil - Perfect Brown  (£25.00/£7.27)

Beauty Pie Superbrow Angled Shaping Pencil - Perfect Brown  Review

Does the perfect brow pencil exist? Well, for me it’s definitely this one. This is my fourth time ordering this and it’s quickly become a daily essential.

Reliable sources tell me it's exactly the same as one from Bobbi Brown (but at member price, a third of the cost). I can believe this because Beauty Pie’s whole original angle was that they sourced their products from exactly the same places as big-name brands, and  a lot of Beauty Pie items are very similar to Bobbi Brown.

I love this because it reliably delivers flawless arches every time. The chunky, triangular nib makes it very easy to get both thin, precise lines and broader ones. That means I can quickly outline and delicately fill in just by slightly varying the angle of the pencil.

The formula is nicely pigmented and slightly waxy, so not only does it fill in the sparse patches but it also shapes and holds brow hairs in place. The result? Perfect definition in a few seconds. And the colour lasts all day - even clinging on throughout a sweaty run. One end also has a spoolie so you can shape and brush through.

I don’t think this can be improved upon, and ‘Perfect Brown’ is the perfect brunette shade with neutral undertones. A can’t live without product.

Wondercolour Longwear Cream Shadow Stick - Teddy Bare, Vanilla Whirl  (£22.00/£5.88)

Beauty Pie Wondercolour Longwear Cream Shadow Stick - Teddy Bare, Vanilla Whirl

More repeat orders! I’ve shown these shadow sticks on an order before and again, I genuinely add one to my basket each time I place an order, because I can’t be without them.

The formula and packaging are identical to the Bobbi Brown equivalent, so again these are a premium product for a lower membership price. ‘Teddy Bare’ is a cool toned matte taupe shade that is absolutely perfect for contouring, so not only do I use it on my eyes, I also use it all over my face.

The crayon format makes this extra easy - I simply draw on my contour and then blend the lines out using a flat foundation brush. The shade gives a much more realistic ‘shadow’ than an orangey bronzer, and the long lasting formula is brilliant. ‘Vanilla Whirl’ is a light matte beige which I use as a very natural looking highlight.

It’s so quick and easy to do this -  my makeup routine takes a literal ten minutes and I can still get in a bit of shaping using these.

Bahia De Miel Candle (£50.00/£16.27)

Beauty Pie Bahia De Miel Candle review

Another product line that Beauty Pie do very well are scented candles. Presented in heavy glass votives and with a strong scent throw, they really do feel extremely luxurious.

Scented candles are one of those every day treats I rely on now more than ever. When you work from home, a really good way to draw a line under the working day is to light one and let the scent and the relaxing glow take you a million miles away from your relentless inbox.

I had been eyeing this one up for a while, but I wasn’t sure whether or not I’d enjoy the perfume from the description. After being out of stock for a long while during the Covid disruption, this finally came back in so I took the plunge. And thankfully I absolutely love this.

It smells beautiful and very sophisticated - an intricate blend of Green Basil, Liquorice Milk, Balsam Fir, Guaiac Wood, Wild Honey, Red Juniper and seductive Vanilla Musk. The result is sweet but never sickly, fresh but not fougere and unbelievably luxe.

It smells like the smartest boutique hotel in town. I only wish now that they did the scent as a perfume. Heaven.

My only small wish is that it came with a metal lid - I prefer these as they look better when not in use and stop that awful burnt smell when you blow it out.

Uber Youth Super Elixir Microbiome Mist On Serum (£80.00/£17.60)

Beauty Pie Uber Youth Super Elixir Microbiome Mist On Serum review

Is a mist a part of your skincare routine? For a long while, it wasn’t part of mine, but when I first began using one I immediately loved it -  and now I couldn’t start my day without one. I normally start my daily skincare with the  Beauty Pie Japanfusion Hydra Prep Lotion which I've added a spray top too.

So this will replace that. I was a little on the fence with this because I think it's overpriced, but my curiosity got the better of me. There’s been a lot of buzz in the beauty and wellness world lately around the role of your microbiome - aka the delicate ecosystem of good bacteria on your skin. This ecosystem is now considered key to preventing skin ageing. Two processes - inflammation and glycation - can accelate all those little issues like dullness, fine lines and sagging.

This product is billed as a ‘serum in a mist’ to counteract those processes.

It supports the skin’s barrier functions and has complexes for anti-wrinkle, anti-environmental damage and anti-glycation, all in a fancy, state of the art delivery system sourced in Japan.

This is exactly why I love Beauty Pie - they are always innovating and even creating new product categories. I’m excited to add this into my routine.

Superdrops Flash Facelift (£50.00/ £11.54)

Beauty Pie Superdrops Flash Facelift review

Sooo glad this is back in stock! My favourite serum - I’ve been  been using Beauty Pie Uber Youth in the meantime, but  I prefer the texture of this.  Again, it's another product packed with clever anti-aging innovations.

There are peptides that smooth, plump and tone the skin, super-hydrating Hyluronic Acid and the bafflingly named ‘Matrixyl Morphomics’ which is a multi-functional complex to deliver younger looking skin in just a few drops.

The serum feels lightweight and smooth to pat on and leaves a beautiful soft and glowing finish. Lets hope this and the mist will give me back some of the freshness that the past stressful year has taken away!

Uber Volume Boost Velvet Mascara - Brownie (£25.00/£6.36)

Beauty Pie Uber Boost Velvet Volume Mascara review

I've only ever tried Beauty Pie mascara once and I HATED it. Too wet, too gloopy and did nothing for my lashes. So this is a leap of faith. I really fell for the description and the shade here. The words ‘deep’, ‘sexy’ and ‘Italian’ all featured (be still my beating heart!).

Promising length, curl and volume with a plush, velvet finish this contains natural waxes alongside organic Shea Butter and Vitamin E so it conditions the lashes as well for optimal growth.

But of course, it's all about the brush when it comes to mascaras, and I’m happy to say this one delivers. A thick nylon spiral brush helps grab every lash for a fuller flutter. The formula is creamy rather than wet, and is nicely buildable without being clumpy.

I actually do really like this mascara, and the pretty brown shade so I think it's going to become a good daily option - although it doesn’t quite beat my all time favourite, which is the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara.

Beauty Pie Limited Edition Pati Dubroff Makeup Essentials Kit review

Although my pink box of joy had already arrived for the month, when this special collaboration was announced I knew immediately that I would have to order it. The member price seemed a steal for the amount of products - eight items, some of which I already know and like, and five purely exclusive to the kit.

And it all came housed in the most beautiful clear travel makeup bag with nude trim - very similar to a travel bag I paid over £20 for on it's on from Space NK. I have way too many makeup bags already, but they’re like catnip to me - so that sealed the deal! I placed a second order.

The kit contains:

Pro Glow Perfect Highlighting Stick - Soft Moonlight (golden champagne shimmer) -  a dewy, illuminated, glowing skin finisher, biomimetic elastic waxes, luminous pearls and a soft-focus diffusing gel matrix. Woah! This is very soft and not glittery on the skin, so it's the ideal gentle looking highlight for day.

Big Bright Eyes Kohl Eyeliner -  Bright Eyed (soft pale cream) - in a universal nude tone for bigger, brighter, wider looking eyes, with super soft buildable colour. I love using a nude liner to fake awakeness, especially after my kids have been waking up at night, and this one is really creamy and easy to smudge on.

Velvet Veil Cream Eyeshadow -  Doe (cool toned matte brown) - You can enhance, define, outline, and sculpt eyes using this blendable cream with long wear micropigments. The perfect cool matte brown for everyday wear and also for a light, natural contour.

Supercheek Cream Blush - Sexy Berry (rose pink) - This has a lightweight, pillowy matte texture, that melts into skin for a natural finish. The shade is a bit darker than something I would normally select, but on the skin it's beautiful, creating a very believable, flattering flush.

Shine Up Lip Colour Balm Stick -  Sexy Berry (rose pink) -  3 in 1 balm, colour and conditioning shine, and a sheer wash of colour all sound great to me, because I love multi-functioning products that are easy to apply in a hurry. Again, I wouldn’t have picked out this shade myself but - spoiler alert - I absolutely love it. It’s a very flattering, just-slightly-darker than nude shade that looks natural and polished. That’s the great thing about discovering new things with the kit, because I had tried this product in a lighter shade I didn’t love it. Now I have it in the Sexy Berry, I’ve been using it every day. I really like the crayon format as well, which gives you precise application on the go.

Wondergel Longwear Lip Liner -  Foxy (warm toned nude pink) - These lipliners are beautigul. Smooth, creamy, intense colour laydown, glide and precision payoff for shaping and defining - they are a steam at the member’s price. I always have one in my makeup bag, either in this shade or the slightly pinker ‘Rummy Pink’, which is a great dupe for the iconic Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lip liner.

Uber Volume Boost Velvet Formula Mascara -  Super Black -  Of course, I bought this in my previous order before the Pati Dubroff kit launched, and luckily I do like it (I’m very picky about mascaras!). It’s a great everyday formula and as I bought it in brown, it's nice to try the black version here.

Mini Shape and Contour Brush - The final inclusion was this little dual ended synthetic brush to help you sculpt, shape and blend. It’s a handy little tool, so I’ll be adding it to my mini makeup kit that comes with me whenever I leave the house.

Dr Glycolic Soft Feet Peel Socks (£15.00/£3.38)

Dr Glycolic Soft Feet Peel Socks review

This kind of at-home treatment has been all over social media for a while and I’ve wanted to try it for ages. If you haven’t come across then before, they are little booties filled with a solution that you pop on your feet. After 90 minutes, you take them off and wash off any residue. Then magically, in around 3-7 days, all the horrid, hard, callused skin on your feet will start peeling off, leaving you with baby soft, smooth feet.

These kind of foot masks originated in South Korea a while ago (there are lots of highly gross photos of the results online, if you’re into a bit of gore!).

The Beauty Pie version contains Glycolic Acid derived from sugar cane - this dissolves the ‘glue’ holding dead skin cells on your feet, and Lactic Acid that exfoliates, allowing the skin to regain it's ideal pH level.

There’s also antioxidant grapefruit, orange, lemon, sweet almond and coconut extracts. It’s a pedicure in a little package to give you a nice salon finish at home - ideal for all those crusty winter feet we’ve been hiding in thick socks and boots for ages.

All-In-Wonder Tinted Illuminating Primer - Nude Glow (£24.00/£6.81)

Beauty Pie All-In-Wonder Tinted Illuminating Primer review

Primer is a product I absolutely rely on day to day, whether under foundation or even on it's own during a no-makeup day. This one is new to me, although it's a Beauty Pie bestseller, and having tried it now, I can completely see why.

Packed with opalescent, light-refracting particles and skin-soothing Vitamin E, it immediately made my skin look refreshed, glowing and brightened. The slight tint unified my complexion and gave a really nice ‘my skin but better’ look.

It’s the ideal thing for a bare skinned, natural look and also works well under another base to give a smooth, long-lasting finish. Definitely a new favourite. I actually find it a great alternative for the much more expensive Trinny London BFF Cream I love.

So that’s my newest Beauty Pie haul - once again, some amazing new products that have me more hooked than ever. More and more of my essential items come from here, and I’m in awe of how well the brand is developing.
