An Italian Adventure | Our First Family Holiday | Rome

It seems incredible that it's already over a month since we took our son Theo on his first holiday.

Life has been a little crazy since them with him teething and us renovating the family bathroom and planning a christening. It never stops!

So I've been meaning to take the time to sit down and share a snapshot of our time away, as well as my tips for any new mums who are nervous about taking their baby away for the first time.

I'm Loving | Midweek Beauty Haul

Don’t you just love a bit of sneaky midweek hauling?

I picked up a couple of items recently and wanted to do a kind of mini haul post rather than my usual epic monthly ones. They can get a little long and rambling, so I think I smaller ones might be the way forward!

I found myself in town this week and although I wasn't really in the market for anything in particular, I came across some brilliant bargains and make-up bits that called my name. Isn't that always how you find the best things?

Here are the little treats I picked up that I'm absolutely loving:

Holiday Capsule Wardrobe- What to Pack for a European City Break

So, 7 nights in a European city. A mix of travelling, sightseeing, dining out and walking. Plus a very active 6 month old that is still breastfeeding some! What can you pack to cover all of that?

In Part One, I shared my top tricks for packing light, so here I'm going to show you what I actually packed and how I built my hard working holiday capsule wardrobe.

The aim is that everything goes with everything else, so I stuck to three key rules to help me whittle down my stuff:

How to Pack Light for a Week’s Holiday in a Carry-on Bag

Are you a chronic overpacker? Do you take tonnes of useless stuff with you everytime you travel for fear of missing something or being ‘unprepared’?

That used to be me. But I've gone to suitcase rehab and I'd like to share some tips that really work to make travelling light a reality.

We’re off on our first family holiday with the baby - a week in Italy, and I’m so excited.

We’re staying in a villa near Trevignano and visiting Rome, Orvieto and a couple of other places -  a different part of the country from last year’s fabulous babymoon.

We can’t wait to show Theo around and let him try his first gelato!

But we opted only to take hand luggage on the flight, so I’ve had to live up to my 2016 goal to be more streamlined.

The perfect red? | MAC x Charlotte Olympia

Hands up, red lipstick used to freak me out. It just seemed so bold, so assertive. Far too confident and attention grabbing to suit my character.

Red lipstick was worn by proper ladies, Golden Age of Hollywood starlets and sophisticated women.  It wasn't for the likes of me.

But over the years that's changed. Perhaps it's an age thing,  or finally feeling more comfortable in my own skin and not so apologetic but I now totally love reds. There's nothing more foolproof when it comes to feeling badass, classic and polished.

I eased myself in by way of orangey colours that didn't feel as challenging or grown up. But you know what? I am grown up (shocking, I know). I have a career, a mortgage, a husband and a baby.  It's time to stop pretending I'm not a proper adult.

And I think I may well have found my new favourite red!

5 Things You Should Do While You Have A Shower

In modern society, everything is fast-paced. We are so busy worrying about what we should be doing next that we rush through the task ahead.

People now only have a quick shower in the morning so that they can get ready for the day ahead. Or at nighttime, they will rush in and out of the shower so that they can go to bed.

In fact, people are not even finding time to have a shower every day. A survey last year found four out of five women don’t shower every day, with most blaming tiredness and lack of time.

But we should be spending more time in the shower so that we can do these essential five things.
