Fabfitfun Winter Box 2019 | Review

Friday 27 December 2019

Do you love discovering new beauty products?

Are you bored of the main UK subscription boxes which seem to be a merry go round of the same old brands?

Then it could be time to try something fresh. Fabfitfun is an American premium subscription box which hits broader than beauty - it also includes stylish lifestyle products too.

In the past I've had everything from an Anthropologie yoga mat to a Kate Spade lunch bag. It comes out just once a season for around $50, and some products are a surprise while a few you can choose from several different options.

All the products are full size and the brands included are fairly high-end. After an unsure reaction to my first box, I really liked the fall box and I think the winter one is actually the best yet… Take a look inside!

PJ Salvage Knit Faux Fur Slippers

The first thing out of the box were these super cosy slippers. I get really cold feet and we live in a draughty Victorian house, so slippers are a must for me in winter.

I usually get a new pair each year and the Joules slipper boots I was rocking before were getting to be a sorry state, so it was great timing for these to land now.

With a light grey knit exterior and a faux fur lining these will definitely keep my feet toasty! The reason I like this box is the mix of things you get - it's always something new.

Slippers may be a little unexpected but they're a great addition to the winter box and they literally haven't been off my feet since!

Nails Inc Thirsty Hands Super Hydrating Hand Mask

It's at this time of year that the perfect storm of cold temperatures outdoors and central heating indoors combine to make skin much drier than usual.

And although we might be good at remembering to slap on a face mask from time to time, how often do we think about our hands?

Dry, thirsty mitts are uncomfortable and they look quite aging, so the idea of an intensive hand mask is interesting.

Following the sheet mask craze to its logical conclusion, you pop these gloves on and they promise to instantly smooth and rejuvenate with a blend of botanical extracts, shea butter, and Vitamin E.

I'd never really considered this type of mask before, even though I've used similar products for my feet. Nails Inc are my favorite manicure brand though, and I collect their nail polishes, so I know this will be great quality.

R+Co Television Perfect Hair Shampoo and Conditioner

These are a brilliant addition to the box, normally retailing at £55.00 for both.

With the aim of delivering picture perfect hair, the shampoo and conditioner are packed with Babassu seed oil and Glycerin to create the optimal balance of moisture to encourage strength and smoothness without compromising on volume.

There is also juniper berry extract to absorb impurities and detoxify the hair follicles. There's no parabens, sulphates, mineral oil or petroleum, so we are free from all chemical nasties.

Fragranced with lavender, tangerines, pineapple and cardamom the vibe is very much upmarket spa, and I love the graphics on the packaging.

I'm pretty fussy about what I wash my hair with but I have a feeling I might just love these!

Frank Body Original Coffee Scrub

I'm a huge fan of a coffee body scrub and I haven't found anything better at giving me smooth, glowing supple skin. I normally use scrubs from Grounded, but Frank were the original brand who produced these types of body exfoliator.

With sea salt and ground robusta coffee beans, these scrubs are magic at buffing away dry and flaky winter skin and leaving it polished and gleaming.

There's also cold pressed Sweet Almond Oil and added Vitamin E which is an antioxidant, to make skin nourished and smooth, and the scent is orange mocha frappuccino - yum!

The ideal pick me up for a cold winter day and the perfect prep before any party.

Rodial Soft Focus Glow Drops

I was so excited to see this, as Rodial is definitely one of my favourite skincare brands, although not one I buy often as it's definitely on the pricey side - this little bottle is normally £45.00!

Described as a next generation wonder serum, it works to brighten the complexion and add a pop of gentle shimmer to flatter the skin.

The formula contains antioxidant ingredients to plump the skin and provide a smoother base for makeup application.

And the light diffusing properties help to hide skin imperfections, which is something I need a lot of help with these days! I can't wait to try these out.

Original Makeup Eraser

If you're still using disposable makeup removing wipes and clogging up landfill then shame on you when there's a reusable alternative that does the job really well and is so much kinder to the planet.

This cloth works with just warm water to remove all traces of makeup - even waterproof mascara. When I first starting using these, I was pregnant and trying to avoid harsh chemicals on my skin as it was a lot more sensitive. I was a little skeptical that these would actually do the job, but they really do get every last scrap of war paint off.

When they get dirty, you simply throw them in the washing machine and they're good to go again. Each one lasts three to five years, which is incredible - again, much cheaper in the longer term than buying packs of wipes.

The side with the longer fibres also gently exfoliates the skin too.

Honestly!? I think these are fabulous and that there's no excuse to use disposable alternatives when there's something this good around instead.

Beauty Bakerie Proof Is In The Puddin' Eyeshadow Palette

Another very cool thing to receive was this eyeshadow palette from cult brand Beauty Bakerie, who I've heard a lot about from serious makeup junkies, but never actually tried.

Again, at a price of £36.00, this really makes the box incredible value. The shades are all neutrals, which is right up my street, with a mix of luxurious shimmers and creamy mattes that blend like a dream.

Vegan and cruelty free, this is a brand with a conscience top. From the fair nude shade 'Butterscotch' to the tempting deep brown 'Warm Cocoa', these shades are all beautiful and deeply wearable.

Whether you want a pretty neutral eye look with a hint of shimmer or an impactful smokey eye, this palette will get you there.

Drybar Prep Rally Prime & Prep Detangler

As I've said before on here, my hair is in pretty bad condition at the moment. It's extremely dry and brittle, tangles easily and snaps off and it's frizzy and static without careful management.

I've evolved a whole hair routine to take care of these problems, and I think this may be just the right supporting product to complement it.

A dose of vitamins for healthy, smooth hair, this spray is fortified with biotin to guard against dryness and increase elasticity in the core of the hair fibre to help prevent breakage.

There are B vitamins to nourish and sea berry oil to seal moisture into the hair shaft and condition without weighing it down.

It's also a heat protectant to stop hot tools and blow drying ruining your hair. There are so many reviews calling this product magic in a bottle, especially for those with fine hair but lots of it (exactly me) that I think this is going to become a new must-have.

So, an absolutely amazing box - brilliant variety of products, incredible value and some genuinely new and exciting things to try. Definitely the best sub box out there at the moment in my opinion.
