Beauty Pie Japanfusion Skincare | Review

Sunday 12 August 2018

When it comes to skincare, there seems to be two distinct types of people. There’s the ‘completist’, who uses every product in a specific line.

Then there's the ‘mix and matcher’, who is always drawn to try new things, and takes the best products from a few ranges. I'm definitely the latter, although at the moment I favour three brands - Nuxe, The Ordinary, and Beauty Pie.

So it's quite rare that I would use every product from a line, but I also know that they are formulated to be complementary and enhance the functions and properties of the other products.

Beauty Pie skincare is effective, affordable and on top of the latest innovations, so when their latest launch directed us to look East for inspiration, I decided to buy a starter set and sample all the products in their Japanfusion line.

Promising to use unique ingredients to target a range of skin woes, from blemishes to wrinkles, lack of radiance and dark spots, it sounded like a system I could get on board with.

The line is based around four essential products: a cleanser, an essence, a serum and a cream. Pumped full of antioxidants and Vitamin C and E, it's a recipe for smooth, glowing skin working against environmental damage.

It repairs the skin’s natural barriers against harsh weather and pollution using polyphenols, jabara fruit extract, pombe yeast and grapes. The line harmonises into a four-step system.

First up, there is the Pure Transforming Cleanser. A non-foaming formulation, this has a gel like texture on the skin. It then transforms into an oil to break down residual makeup, dirt and grime.

Although it does a decent job, I can't really get on board with it. It feels like it melts too quickly and I want to feel like I'm really working something into my skin. And while I know foam isn't essential for a good cleanse, I just prefer it. Some will love this formula, but for me, it's something I probably wouldn't repurchase.

Hydra Prep Lotion is step two. This product is like an hydrating essence, or a very gentle, completely non-astringent toner. It's actually the one product I didn't think I'd get on with, or thought was a bit unnecessary, but I love it!

The light, water-weight formula taps into your skin after cleansing, smells beautiful and really locks in moisture. After use, my skin feels beautifully refreshed and hydrated, especially in this hot weather. A great new discovery.

Deep Treatment Serum is the next step, and is another beautiful product. A couple of pumps does the whole face and again, there’s a light gel-cream texture that is really pleasant and refreshing to use.

Free from parabens and sulphates, it packs a huge antioxidant punch- and that means smoother, more radiant skin. It sinks in so nicely and leaves my face feeling so velvety.

Supreme Cream is the final step in this super-hydrating regime. Luxurious and silky to apply, it's got ‘high-tech micro molecular Pombe Yeast’ to re-energise and brighten. This stuff plumps skin up like a motherloving bouncy castle!

It's deeply moisturising without feeling at all heavy or smothering on the skin. Extremely impressed with its performance, and I really look forward to popping this on before bed.

The whole set can be purchased together for a members price of £26.27, which is incredible value for the quality and performance (if you haven’t heard about how Beauty Pie works, I explain it here). Because I can't resist trying their new skincare launches, I also added on a couple of other products.

Super Healthy Skin Ultralight UVA/UVB SPF25 also had to be tried! I’ve been waiting for Beauty Pie to add a sunscreen product for ages- it's the number one essential in any good skincare regime, so it seemed odd they didn't have that base covered.

I would have preferred a higher factor, as I normally wear SPF50, and sunscreen becomes most effective at Factor 30 and above, but I like that this covers both skin-ageing UVA rays and burning UVB rays.

This also acts as your daily moisturiser, with moisture boosting hyaluronic acid and licorice extract to soothe and take down any redness. There’s no white cast left on the skin and no greasiness either, making it ideal under makeup. A great little daily essential.

I also picked up their new Super Retinol + Vitamin C Night Renewal Moisturiser. This is a great one-stop shop for overnight anti-ageing.

Encapsulated steady-release retinol provides intense resurfacing, ficucell vita - a powerful antioxidant, Vitamin E and C for increased elasticity, and ferulic and hyaluronic acid for plumping and hydrating. It's a little, Swiss formulated wonder tackling all the signs of aging while you sleep.

It's another brilliant product - subscribing may be annoying, but it's definitely worth it to access these amazing products!

Finally, I also got the Uber Youth Super Serum. Retinol can be too harsh to use on your skin every day, so I'm cycling it with this - a peptide formula.

With clinically tested levels of BionymphPeptides and Wrinkle-Fighting Liposomal Complexes, an intensive stratum corneum moisture-boosting Marine mix, and Vitagenesis White -a revolutionary new ingredient that helps even pigmentation and brighten your complexion.

  6. Sprung mattresses can have either innersprings or pocketed springs, and while it is believed by most that the pocketed spring mattresses are best, this is not always the case and many prefer innerspring mattresses wrapped with a good solid foam that conforms to their body shape. truck mattress
