OOTD Maternity | Striped & Blush

Friday 6 April 2018

Ok, so spring has finally sprung (a little bit) here in the UK, with the odd steak of sunshine making an appearance and a few warmer days where you didn’t need thermal layers to venture outside - and I’ll take that and run!

First time around, I didn’t really buy much maternity wear as I didn’t need it until right at the end of my pregnancy - but I also didn’t realise that you spend a good few months in it after the baby! I ended up with about three pairs of leggings in constant rotation for five months and I just wanted to burn them by the end. So this time I’ve definitely invested much more!

To be honest, pregnancy is harder this time around. I’m feeling so much bigger and a lot more physically uncomfortable than I did carrying my son, and at 5 months in it's already getting much tougher to find clothes that make me feel good about myself. I’ve tried to find pieces that work for several different occasions, and also stuff I think I will wear after the baby comes, too.

‘Iris’ striped jersey dress | Mamalicious
‘Killer’ blush studded ankle boots | Topshop
Lilac tassel earrings | Primark
Grey clutch | Kurt Geiger

I’m a stripes girl if I wear any pattern, so this dress caught my eye straight away. In navy with a pink and white horizontal stripe, it looked fresh and pretty. It has all the ingredients that work for ‘pregnant me’ - a dark base colour, a comfortable and flattering stretch jersey material and a belt to provide a little definition. I actually feel nice wearing this, which is getting to be rare! And I’ve had a few compliments from family, my work colleagues and my husband. I hadn’t tried Mamalicious before for maternity wear but I’m impressed and have just ordered another dress from them.

To bring out the spring in the dress, I paired it with my absolute favourite recent purchase, these blush suede ankle boots covered all over with delicate gold studs. How pretty?

They are perfect for the new season as they still keep your feet warm but they’re so much fresher looking than black or grey. I’m not normally much of a one for pink, but I fell in love with these the moment I saw them. Ankle boots are definitely my vibe and I love to pair them with a dress.

And what about these show-stopping lilac tassel earrings? Accessories are always the ideal way to bring a current trend into your look and these really give any outfit a major lift. They were such a bargain too!

A simple grey clutch finishes the look off and keeps the focus on the other accessories - this one is a staple in my wardrobe that I’ve had for years.

What’s your must-have spring accessory?
