OOTD | Origami Fox | Bloggers' Brunch

Friday 24 February 2017

What kind of a blogger would I be if I didn’t squeeze an outfit post out of the lovely bloggers brunch event I attended a couple of weeks ago?

At first, I was unsure about posting this, mainly because I didn’t have time to get any proper shots of the outfit on, just a quick mirror selfie. But I couldn’t resist the chance to post about my bargainous blouse, which is literally my internet find of the year so far, so I’m posting it anyway!

Last Sunday, I celebrated ‘Galentine’s’ with some of my favourite blogging gals at a beautiful prosecco brunch held at Caffe Rizzoli, organised by Intu. You can read all about the day here.

A lot of time I’m either working or in casual mum-mode, and so it was nice to put something on without having to think about if it was suitable to chase a toddler around in!

Soft black skinny jeans | Whistles
White crochet blouse | Zanzea
Grey leather and embossed suede ankle boots | Topshop
Grey faux rabbit-fur jacket | Next
Rose gold origami fox necklace | Love Hearts & Crosses
‘Le Pliage’ small rucksack | Longchamp

Black skinnies are pretty much my uniform, so it’s no surprise I based the look around these. The older I get, the fewer styles I need! My taste has really solidified over the past couple of years in particular, and I’ve realised that I tend to re-wear versions of the same thing a lot.

These ones are nice because they’re really dark black and a soft cotton. Whistles is my go-to place for jeans now as they fit really nicely and don’t bag out at the knees after a few washes.

But let’s talk about the blouse, because it’s a real find. I love the high neck and the open work crochet detailing on the sleeves. They look really detailed and expensive but this blouse was a total bargain from an eBay boutique – it was only £7!

I fell in love with it when it popped up on my feed but when I ordered one I was a bit cynical and kind of assumed that it wouldn’t really be that nice when it came. Only it’s gorgeous! Immediately, I ordered another one because I knew I’d wear it to death. And at least two people I work with have now ordered one too.

On top, to keep out the chill, I added this great faux-rabbit fur jacket. It's so snuggly and cuddly – like wearing a giant comfort blanket. I love a bit of faux-fur in winter – glam and warm in one hit…

Keeping on with the grey theme, I also wore my new grey ankle boots. I feel like I wear black ones to death, so it's nice to have a pair that are a bit different but still neutral enough to go with anything. The heels feature a really cute embossed suede that looks like a mock-croc effect.

Taking a break from my usual statement neck candy, I chose this delicate rose gold origami fox pendant. How cute is this? They have all sorts of different animals available and I just love the unusual design.

And I’m all about that rucksack life recently since getting my Le Pliage rucksack. Perhaps working on a university campus is beginning to influence my style? I’ve always favoured cross body bags anyway, as I like to have my hands free so perhaps it was inevitable! I do love the Le Pliage tote bags and use mine quite a bit, but the rucksack is similarly light weight, smart and fuss free. It looks compact but it actually holds a fair amount.

This look is a variation on one of my beloved outfit ‘formulas’ – little style maths I do to put together looks that I feel comfortable in.

  2. Love this outfit! I'm a sucker for a faux fur jacket (so cosy) and I love how you've paired it with skinnies and boots just like I would. And the bag! <3 So cool that it has a top handle so you can switch between uber fashionable and practical - love this look! Jade x
