What's in my beauty bag 2014?

Sunday 3 August 2014

Hello lovely people!

Today I've decided to post a delve into my everyday make-up bag. I'm hugely nosey, and I absolutely lovely reading these kinds of posts, so I thought I would do my own!

Like most make-up addicts, this bag only represents a small proportion of my too-large collection. On my dresser, I keep a perspex unit that houses most of my current favourite eyeshadows, palettes and lipsticks, so you'll notice there aren't many of these items in the bag here.

This bag contains all the items I need for my 'everyday' make-up -  a sort of basic face if you will. If I need to travel, I can just grab this one bag, and it has all of my cosmetic essentials, although I'd usually pack at least one palette and throw in a few lipsticks as well.

This is the make-up bag I'm currently using. I bought it because of the bold black and white zig zag pattern, because it matches a set of travel bags I got from Jo & Jo Austrailia that I love, but this was actually from Primark!

Although it was a cheap buy, I love it. It's really sturdy, and washable. It's made of a scuba fabric, like a wetsuit or something, and then it has that great neon pink zip. I love it also because its really spacious.

A selection of the things stashed inside that I'm currently loving... in no particular order...

  • NYX Wonder Pencil is a must-have item. Its a multi-tasker for highlighting, contouring and brightening.
  • Benefit Erase Paste is a brilliant, orange-toned concealer that helps kill off dark shadows.
  • Makeup Revolution's Vivid Blush Lacquer is one of the best blushes I've ever tried, so durable.
  • Dainty Doll Eyeshadow Base helps to keep colours in place and creases at bay.
  • Soap and Glory's Supercat liner is a daily essential for getting the feline flicks I love so much!
  • L'Oreal Superliner Gelmatic in Taupe is perfect for the lower lash line - not as harsh as black, but still has impact.
  • DuWop's Prime Venom conditions and plumps lips, getting them ready for strong colour.
  • Topshop's Eye Crayon in Marble is a godsend on days when you're either feeling too lazy to blend shadows, or you need a hit of extra hit of radiance.
  • Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in Dark Pearl does a similar one-product wonder job and its such a beautiful, flattering colour.
  • The little white contact lense box is where I keep my current pair of lashes, along with a little pair of tweezer for popping them on.

  • Urban Decay's Naked Flushed palette is ideal on day's when you're short of time - it combines a matte bronzer, a shimmery highlighter and a pink powder blush. You can use the shades separately or one quick sweep gives a flattering glow in one
  • Absolute New York Eyeshadow Primer is a new favourite for keeping my eyeshadow on all day- it was a new discovery in the July Glossybox, but its quickly been promoted to a favourite everyday item.
  • Anastasia's Dipbrow Pomade tames and fills in my arches - I used to use a Mac powder shadow, but since discovering this little beauty, its definitely the first choice.
  • L'Oreal Infallible Lipliner in 'Always Toasted' is a neutral shade that I used to think was too pale, but its really grown on me now.

  • Makeup Revolution's eyeshadows are amazing value and great quality. My two daily favourites are 'Heavenly' and 'Mocha Love', which I use for contouring as well
  • Bourjois Light 01 is also very useful for light and bright lids, or adding a pearly sheen to any other eye colour.
  • Urban Decay's Naked Basics palette is a great grab-and-go essential, containing all the shades for most basic eye looks - I wouldn't be without it now.
  • Avon Glimmerstick Chromes in 'Night Sky' is a gorgeous, creamy eyeliner in a dark blue - perfect for if I'm feeling like a flash of colour.
  • Mac In Extreme Dimension mascara is my absolute favourite. It gives volumised, separated lashes that are just amazing.
  • A close runner up and my everyday pick, is Bourjois 1 Second - its very similar to the Mac one, but gives slightly less volume and intensity, making it my everyday choice.

  • Primer is an essentual when you work a really long day, so I love Makeup Revolution's Ultra Face Primer. It's not costly, but its a good everyday solution to keeping your make-up in place
  • Chanel's Les 4 Ombres in 'Tisse Camellia' is also a current everyday favourite. Its a selection of pink, rose gold and lilac shades that are so pretty and flattering on brown eyes. If I'm not feeling a neutral eye then this is my go-to for a bit of colour and dimension.

  • Avon Magix Face Perfector is an amazing product. It blurs lines and imperfections like a dream. I have lines on my forehead that I'm quite self-conscious about, so if they're looking bad, this is my essential to help me feel a bit fresher.
  • Mac Fix Plus is a must in the summer months to stop make-up melting off in the heat.
  • Kiko Skin Evolution is my current everyday foundation (although that's more because I'm using it up than because I adore it). It gives a very smooth, lightweight coverage that's brilliant for the warmer months, and is a great budget dupe for Chanel's Vitalumiere Aqua.
  • Seventeen Skin Wow! is a product I always rave about. A three in one primer, highlighter and glow-giver, it veils skin with a flattering, pearlescent glow that's not too shimmery, and is perfect for every day wear. I do use this more in the winter when skin is duller, but whenever I need an extra boost, this is what I reach for.
  • No7 Pop & Glow Blush in 'Mango Sorbet' is the perfect summer shade for me, and the convenient crayon format means that even if I'm in a tearing hurry, I can still add a flush to my cheeks with one swipe.

So, those are my daily essentials. What products make your cut?

  2. My make up bag is a similar mish mash of brands. I have no brand loyalty at all

Sorry if you get two comments. My wifi keeps logging off. Don't feel sorry for me, I'm too far from the connection sitting out by my pool.
