OOTD | Girls Night Out | Monochrome Cold Shoulder

Sunday 10 July 2016

Now that Theo has started sleeping through the night and also getting himself to sleep rather than me having to feed him, the evenings feel so much longer.

Having some kind of social life is a hell of a lot easier and I think all of us are much more cheerful!

So this Friday I was actually able to go out for drinks and a catch up with my dear friend Katie, Theo’s godmother.

You know when you instantly just click with someone? Well, it was like that when our friend Richard met Katie. He wasn’t the only one who quickly realised she was quite special and we were all hoping things would go well between them.

Now here we are years later and I’ve gained an amazing friend.

I was very excited to finally have an evening out. The last time we did this I was heavily pregnant and had to stick to the mocktails!

My outfit inspiration for the evening

And here’s what I wore:

Cream off the shoulder top | River Island
Leigh black skinny jeans | Topshop
Studded gladiator sandals |Steve Madden
So Black Classic Flap Bag | Chanel
Obsidian shard necklace | Lovebullets

I wanted something low-key and casual but still a little glam, so it was the perfect opportunity to try out the cold shoulder trend.

You literally cannot open a magazine or scroll through Instagram without seeing this look everywhere, it must be summer's biggest trend.

I love it because theres something really alluring about it but at the same time it isnt revealing at all! For someone with pregnancy weight still to shift its an absolute godsend.

I got this top a couple of months back, but theres never really been a good opportunity for me to wear it until now.

Paired with black skinny jeans for a monochrome look here. I could live in black skinnies, they go with everything and balance out smart and casual really well and these ones are a really inky, proper black.

In keeping with that theme, I brought out my Chanel So Black edition. All the hardware and metal trimmings are black powder coated and they just look so sharp.

Its a very modern look and less shouty than the usual gold or silver, so I really like this take on the bag.

I wore my obsidian shard pendant from Lovebullets which has to be my favourite accessory of the moment.

And on my feet, I wore these heavily studded flat black gladiators from a few season ago. I love that theyre flat and super comfortable but the embellishment makes them work for day or night.

I didn't get any pictures of the outfit on because I only had a half hour to get ready between Theo going to sleep and Katie coming to pick me up - such is the life of a mum! And once we were out, I was having such a good time I didn't take any either.

We headed to Boilermaker, a speakeasy bar that does the most incredible artisan cocktails. The front looks like a boiler repair shop and then you get sent into what looks like a tiny broom cupboard. When you push on one of the walls, it swings open and you're in a bar!

We also visited Tilt which has live blues and amazing passionfruit martinis. We had such a great time and it was so nice to just be Sarah for an evening and let my hair down!
