10 Tips for Accessorising Your Outfits Perfectly

Tuesday 29 September 2015

Accessorising your outfits is a must if you want to enhance them in just the right way.

Pairing accessories with your outfits adds an extra layer and so much more interest. You can also show off your personality with your accessories!

Here are some tips to accessorising your outfits perfectly:

Wear Accessories That Suit your skin tone

Make sure your accessories suit your skintone and they’ll flatter you. The metal you choose can either make you look amazing or wash you out, so it’s your choice!

Some lucky people suit all metals. Use a guide to help you choose what looks best on you.

In general, people with cooler skin tones suit silver, while people with warmer skin tones suit gold.

Use a Belt to Add shape

I just love using a waist belt to add shape to my outfits. Usually, it’ll give me more of a waist and an hourglass figure, rather than having my clothes hang off me and making me look frumpy.

Include Lots of Texture

Texture is one of the best ways to make your outfit look more interesting.. Use as many as you like to create a professional looking outfit!

Take off the last thing you put on

Sometimes, we can over accessorize without even realising it. If you think this might be the case, take off the last thing you put on. This is a tip that has been given by Coco Chanel herself!

Be Unique

Be unique with your accessories and use them to show off your personality and the things you like. I love handmade jewellery for making an impact, as very few people own it. Handmade pearl jewellery , for instance, is beautiful and isn’t too mainstream. Try to stand out from the crowd!

Make a statement with colour/pattern

Wearing colour and pattern on my bags and shoes is lots of fun, so I do that to make a statement. Sometimes I even clash colours and patterns!

Use the 10 Point Rule

The 10 point rule is basically where you give yourself a point for every accessory you put on. Anymore than 10 is too much, and less than 5 isn’t enough. Obviously you should use your best judgement when using this rule!

Mix Metals if You’re Brave Enough

You can mix metals if you’re brave enough! Rose gold can look lovely with both silver and gold. There are lots of guides online on how to do this too!

Stack Bracelets / Rings / Necklaces

Stack and layer your bracelets, necklaces and rings to create a more boho feel. This creates a great look for festivals and similar events! Use different styles, and both statement/simple pieces to mix things up.

Don't forget your hair

Accessorize your hair too. Wear a headband, hat, or something like that to finish off your outfit. It might be the one thing that’s missing!
