Mama Style | Wild About Easter

How did the Easter holidays treat you this year?

It was an unbelievable weekend of constant sunshine where we live, so it really felt like an actual holiday. It was the perfect blend of spending time as a family, hanging out in the garden using our pizza oven, meeting family and friends and doing Easter egg hunts with the kids, trips to the park and tackling a few outstanding jobs around the house.

Of course, all these quick-fire weather changes can be a little confusing when it comes to what to wear. At the start of last week, I was still in my thermal tights scraping frost off the car windshield in the morning, so to suddenly be in 24 degree heat was a little surreal - I had to hurriedly pull out a couple of the summer pieces I'd bought recently with holidays in mind!

White slogan tee | Emily & Me
Silk animal print drawstring skirt |Whistles
Pom-pom stripe sandals | M&S Collection
Orange tassel earrings | Zara
Covet Waverley bag | Stella & Dot
‘Supergirl’ mirrored sunglasses | Quay Australia

For an easy-breezy summer outfit, you can't beat silk. Lightweight, soft and beautifully draped, I'm become a little obsessed with adding pieces in the fabric to my wardrobe, and this skirt also taps into the animal print trend that's everywhere at the moment - although it never goes out of style to me, I'm like a brunette Bet Lynch!

This skirt is so comfortable as it features an elastic drawstring waist, so it's the ideal piece to take away on holiday to slip on over a swimsuit too.

Paired with the skirt, a slogan tee keeps it casual for trips to the park with the kids. Rolling the sleeves and tucking the front of the skirt into your waistband is a really simple trick to pull together a look and make everything look more intentional.

Flat sandals are ideal for summer days, and this pair feature a really nice, textured Monochrome stripe punctuated with a big rust coloured pom pom to give a bit of embellishment. I mirrored this with the bright orange tassel earrings, which are so summery just putting them on makes me want to pull out the factor 30.

The finishing touch was my beloved Covet Waverley bag, which is pretty much my daily companion - I love the gold arrowhead zip-pull, foldover design and the casual crossbody strap.

Add in a pair of mirrored sunglasses and I was good to go for some bank holiday fun in the sun.

Happy Easter to you all!
