Lily England Makeup Brushes | Review

What would Christmas be without a little self-gifting?

I've been busy buying Christmas presents (most of them via the Amazon app while trapped in a stationary car with a sleeping baby) and I decided it was high time to gift myself a little something too!

Having been eyeing up a new set of makeup brushes for a while, I wasn't sure what to get. I've been using my Zoeva set for a while now, and liking them. I also love RealTechniques brushes for their performance but not so much their looks (multicoloured is not really my thing!).

Step forward Lily England. These brushes are such a hidden gem. After clocking the heaps of gushing reviews they've attracted on Amazon, I made the decision to give them a go.

And aren't they just stunning? Varnished white wooden handles, rose gold ferrules and beautiful graduated cream and mink bristles that are soft as silk.

These brushes are an absolute dream  , and all the reviews on Amazon rave about them for good reason. The quality was evident the moment I saw them. Vegan and cruelty-free, there's every reason to enjoy them.

These brushes don't just look beautiful, but they're also great at their job, blending and buffing effortlessly. They are certainly every bit as good as the Spectrum and Zoeva brushes I own - but a bit less expensive.

I purchased two of the sets - the Essential Makeup Brush Set (£20.00) and the 8 Piece Eye Makeup Brush Set (£16.00). These are amazing value for the quality of brush, especially as the Essential set also comes with a beautiful makeup bag.

Powder & blush brush: Irresistibly soft bristles and a medium large soft domed shape which could be used powder, blush or bronzer. I'm definitely more likely to use this for my finishing powder and just blending over the face that I would for the others.

Foundation brush: Again, this gives an airbrushed, streak-free finish. I usually use a Beauty Blender for applying my foundation, so this will probably get repurposed for contour.

Eye shadow shader: This little beauty is a great all rounder for eye shadow. Perfect for applying colour, blending, and shading.

Blusher Brush: I'm planning to use this for bronzer as the small to medium head is just the right size to carve out some cheekbones.

Duo Angled Brow & Spoolie Brush: I absolutely love this handy double-ended brush, with a spoolie at one end for grooming those arches and a from angled head at the other that gives really precise control for filling in my brows.

These brushes come in a gorgeous white grained leather effect bag with a rose gold zip. It's a good size for use as an everyday makeup bag, but I'm using it to store my second set of brushes in as I rotate between these and my Zoeva set.

I also got the 8 Piece eye makeup brush set. This contains everything you need to beautify your peepers:

101 Luxe Crease Brush - a rounded fluffy medium dense brush for diffusing in the crease line

102 Classic Shadow Brush - a multi-tasker which is soft enough to blend, and dense enough to pack on colour as needed

103 Soft Smudger Brush - the ideal shape and size for working under the eye or smoking our a liner

104 Eyeshadow Brush - a great brush for washing the lid with colour

105 Dual Brow and Spoolie Brush - I'm very fussy about angled brushes and I love this one! It has just the right degree of firmness and the right head size for making brows perfect. There is one of these in the other set top, but I'm happy to have a back up or one to use for liner and one for brows.

106 Flat Shader Brush - The slightly firmer bristles here are ideal for precision work in the crease and outer v

107 Pencil Brush - This is perfect for smaller details like working on the lash line or placing shadow at the inner corner of the eye

108 Angled Fluffy Brush - Great for buffing and blending and getting a beautiful winged shape.

The bristles are high quality, vegan and synthetic but they are whisper soft on the skin and do an amazing job of blending pigment seamlessly. They are also so well constructed and stand up to washing beautifully.

I'm in love!
