Latest In Beauty Box | December 2017

Wednesday 20 December 2017

The Latest in Beauty box is a little bit different from the better-known boxes. You have the chance to select the products that you want to receive before ordering, and can choose either three, six or nine products for a different set monthly price, all with free postage.

For those who enjoy the surprise element, it's not going to appeal, but if you’ve subbed to others before and grown tired of the duds or the repeat products, it’s a great way to keep it fresh. They also produce limited pre-selected ‘collections’ that can be bought separately, like the Cosmopolitan Party Starter Edit I ordered before Christmas.

I was really happy with my first box in November, and also with the selection of items to choose from in December. That month was so busy I didn’t review the box as I ran out of time, and I’ve just placed my January order. Here’s a look at what came last month…

Maskorea Too Many Late Nights Sheet Mask (RRP £7.99)

What could be more timely going into party season that a rejuvenating face mask to help you get your glow back? My nights are usually fairly broken, although that’s to do with having a toddler rather than any wild partying usually!

I love face masks and treating my skin well and I try to do one at least once a week. This a three-step mask, which is something I haven’t tried before. It comes in a sachet divided into three – a foaming cleanser to use before the mask, the mask itself which is cellulose and infused with lots of skin goodies, and an anti-aging night cream to use afterwards.

This really helps to maximise the benefits and makes it ideal to take away with you for a weekend, as you have everything you need in one. The formula is designed to brighten, improve skin elasticity, re-hydrate and perk up the skin, and contains lots of antioxidant-rich Vitamin C and smoothing Hyaluronic Acid as well as kiwi and lemon extracts.
There are some fantastically positive reviews for this on the Maskorea website, with people saying it really made a visible difference to their skin overnight (there also seems to be a lot of love for the cleanser, which many want to buy on its own). People seem genuinely blown away by this, so I can’t wait to give it a try.

Ellis Faas Concealer | Fair (PPR £22.00)

Ellis Faas is a high-end cosmetics brand that I’ve seen pop up on Vogue editorial shoots, but have never thought to try. When ordering from Latest in Beauty, the size of products are variable – some are mini samples, some are deluxe travel size and some are full-size products, so you have to check carefully. I was pleasantly surprised that this was full size, which makes it worth £22.

The packaging is like an exaggerated tapered silver bullet and is so pretty. I’m very fussy with concealers but I was so super-impressed with this formula. It’s both lightweight and high coverage and blended in easily.

Containing Karite Oil and Rice Wax alongside Vitamins C and E, this doesn’t only knock out blemishes, but it also hydrates and protects against free radical damage, so its ideal for the under-eye area. The applicator is a pen with an in-built brush which makes it fuss-free and easy to apply in a rush.

This is a really high-quality product and I absolutely love it – its ideal for my tired, baggy undereye area that is super fussy with concealers.

Moroccanoil Treatment Light | 25ml (RRP £13.45)

This legendary hair care treatment has inspired legions of imitators and a whole new category in hair products, and although I’ve tried lots of other hair oils, I’ve never tried the original – so I jumped at the chance here.

Formulated to have a lighter consistency than the original, this won’t weigh hair down but will leave it well hydrated, sleek and shiny. It controls frizz, detangles and increases elasticity, stopping breakage in its tracks. Plus it adds a delicate perfume as well.

I find hair oils the perfect remedy for all the heat styling we out our locks through and a great finishing touch to your look. It also has an anti-oxidant and UV protection effect with vitamins that renew the actual cell structure of the hair.  You can use it on wet hair after shampooing or on dry hair as a final styling aid.

This is the deluxe travel size so absolutely ideal for taking with you on holiday. Again, the reviews on HQHair for this are overwhelmingly positive, so I can’t wait to give it a try.

Really pleased with this box, which was amazing value and I also loved all of the products. Doing a little bit of research before placing your selection can really help. As a Christmas treat, LIB also included a little box of Lindor truffles (yum) and a cute pack of festive pocket tissues, which were pressed into immediate service as I’ve been struggling to get over a cold for about a month now.

If you’re looking for something new to try, I highly recommend giving this box a go.
