Don't you love those easy breezy pieces that just slot into your life and your wardrobe so seamlessly?

When I laid eyes on this long-sleeved Breton stripe dress, I knew it would be one of those pieces for me.

You can style it up for a myriad of different occasions, from a work meeting to a lazy Sunday brunch and it just works.

Long sleeved Breton stripe dress | H&M
Feather print silk scarf | Cynthia Rowley
Tan zipped ankle boots | Steve Madden
Bayswater bag in Chocolate | Mulberry

Apologies for the really rubbish mirror selfie! I was rushing around so I didn't have time to take any proper shots with the outfit on. This has really reminded me that I need to clean my bedroom mirror!

The dress is so easy to pull on, even I have time to do it. It's made of a heavy, lined stretch jersey that feels great on.

I like to contrast the stripe with the feather print on my large silk scarf. I wear this scarf a lot because I just love the way it drapes and it has black and brown tones in, so it's useful to tie outfits together that have both of those colours.

The tan ankle boots I got on sale several years ago and I always pull them out when the seasons are on the change and it can't decide if it's sunny and warm or cold and rainy. The lighter colour looks a bit more spring-like than black but it's still covered up and practical for cold weather.

My bag was my Christmas present from my very lovely husband this year. I've literally wanted a Bayswater for years, it's definitely an iconic bag.

I'm really loving that he went for a chocolate coloured leather, you see this bag a lot in the lighter Oak colour. This feels less obvious and also works well with brown or black shoes  as it's somewhere in between.

I went quite neutral with the makeup as I was just going out for lunch with some of my mummy friends.

My base is Mac Lightful C Tinted Cream, topped with a light stippling of Mehron Celebre Pro HD where needed, and Mac Pro Longwear concealer to try and hide my bags!

I used shades from the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette on the eyes along with Maybelline Master Precise black liquid liner, and then W7 Brow stencils and Mac Charcoal Brown shadow to fill in my brows. Stencils look really weird but they definitely work so well! Sometimes I think I made the angles too hard when I freehand my brows.

The lashes are Eyelure Volume 100s with a bit of Essence I Heart Extreme Volume mascara.

For my lips, I created a sort of ombré effect using Urban Decay 24/7 Lip Liner in 'Native' and the Benefit High Brow pencil in 'Linen', and then topping it with NYX Lip Lingerie liquid matte lipstick in the shade 'Ruffle Trim'. I'm in love with this colour at the moment.

And here we are, out with my yummy mummy squad for some food.

Theo is looking very smart in his Ralph Lauren Baby romper suit with the rugby collar. I saw these years ago, before I'd thought about having a baby, and I always said if I had a little boy, I'd get one for him. Super cute!

On top he wore his grey knit cardigan with the bear ears, which is from Marks and Spencer.

I took this shot before lunch, when I was doing my buggyfit workout with him. So he looks very bemused at me leaping around in the park like a lunatic!

I had also managed to drag my ass out of bed at 6am, before Theo was up, to fit in a run. It's the only time I can carve out of the day to do it, and I'm far too shattered by the time Theo goes to sleep.

Of course, it's extremely horrid getting up early when you've been up half the night with the baby as well, but the beautiful scenery around where we live really does make it better.

I saw a nesting swan, a heron in flight, beautiful fields bathed in the golden morning sun and horses on my little circuit, as we live next to a country park. You wouldn't believe we're only ten minutes by car from the city centre as well! This is why I love where we live so much.

And this was the scene at the bottom of my garden when I got in. We live backing onto a canal and a young swan and some ducks came to say hello to my cat, Shilling and our hens, Bardot and Hepburn.

Are you feeling spring like yet?

  1. Love your outfit - you look amazing! I've not worn a dress since I was pregnant. I feel a bit lost with my fashion sense at the moment but I'm sure I'll get it back! Theo looks gorgeous - hope you're all doing well xx
