Stealing Beauty: Derma V10 Serum Review

Friday 20 February 2015

Are you a high end queen or do you love getting a bargain?

I’m fairly evenly split down the middle. There are some thrills in life, like a Chanel perfume or swatching a new Charlotte Tilbury lipstick, that just can’t be beaten.

But I also dearly love finding those little gems that cost pennies and really deliver.

Drugstore offerings have really upped their game over the past few years, and often the formulations are such close rivals for high-end products now that you’d be hard pushed to tell the difference in a blind test.

It’s a different kind of thrill, but I definitely feel more smug when I find a winner.

One thing I’ve always thought you have to invest in though, is skincare. I’ve always assumed that you get what you pay for in terms of active ingredients, and although I still think there’s some truth in that, I have also read an interview with a leading dermatologist who said that often the ‘mass market’ brands can achieve better innovations as they have big budgets and economies of scale.

Despite that, I wouldn’t have thought (and I bet neither would you) that you could get a brilliant little skin serum, packed full of great ingredients, for the princely sum of £1?

Allow me to introduce you to Derma V10 Serum.

This little wonder has been a very welcome addition to my night time skincare routine for a few weeks now.

Over the past few years, I’ve gotten a lot stricter with my regime. Each night, I double cleanse – using an oil cleanser or micellar water to take my makeup off, followed by a face wash, exfoliate, tone, apply a serum and finally, a moisturising oil to sink in while I sleep.

My skin is not really problematic but it is showing signs of aging, and I’ve been conscious of trying to look after it better.

In the morning, I wash my face again, use a toner, then eye cream, serum and a moisturiser with an SPF. Until recently I was just using the same serum at night and for morning. The brand varies, but I’ve switched between Clinique RepairWear Laser Focus, Vichy Idealia Life and Soap and Glory Make Yourself Youthful.

I’ve seen Derma V10 ‘around’ but never seriously thought about using them. But when I clocked the ingredients list on this for the price, I had to try it and I’ve been really impressed with it.

For your pound, you get a 15ml of serum which is enough for a month. It comes in an inoffensive white tube, which is really practical for travelling with.

On the skin, this feels beautiful. Its extremely lightweight and instantly absorbed.

It leaves my skin feeling like silk – really fresh and hydrated. I was amazed at the premium feel from a product that’s such a steal.

This doesn’t contain fragrance or parabens, so it won’t irritate sensitive types and its not greasy at all if you struggle with oil.

Its got the following goodies:

Retinyl Palmitate:

Firms & boosts the skin to maintain elasticity. The unique component ofSepilift mono peptide firms, regenerates & smoothes the skin, fighting against signs of ageing. It has a strengthening effect on the skin's collagen fibres & acts as an antioxidant to fight free radicals.

Jojoba Oil:

Moisturises & smoothes the skin

Vitamin C:

Fights free radicals & helps repair damage from sun, stress & pollutants

Vitamin E:

A potent anit-oxidant widely used by the body to protect lipids in cell membranes from oxidative damage

Water Lillies:

Regarded as symbols of freshness, purity, beauty & tranquility with a calming effect

That all sounds rather good for the price, doesn’t it? Peptides and antioxidants are the wonder watch words for age proofing the skin, so I’m impressed that this ticks both of those boxes.

The next morning, my skin looks noticeably refreshed, and although my stubborn forehead lines are still there as we speak, I feel like its had the effect of softening them and certainly making my skin look more glowing.

The long term effects will only be visible over time and they are harder to gauge, but I feel like this is performing as well as anything else I’ve used - and for literally a fraction of the price. I’m so impressed with this, especially the feel of it on the skin, which is very premium.

Derma V10 can be bought at various places and the price seems to vary a bit, although it never goes over a fiver, so I would seriously urge you to check this out. There’s literally nothing to lose at these prices – and everything to gain.

I will be stocking up on this as a great nightly treat to refresh my skin.

If you’re just beginning to get into a skincare routine, love a bargain or are just a bit curious, you should definitely give this a go. It might even be my find of the year.

  3. Since the system, which requires a short series of infusions over the range of a couple of moments, is a genuinely basic one, a great many people find they are great possibility for Botox.
