Trick or Treat | Glossybox Halloween Edition

Sunday 28 October 2018

Are you looking forward to Halloween next week?

I've never really celebrated Halloween that much, but it seems to have become a much bigger deal since I was younger. My son is definitely interested in it, so we’re slowly getting more drawn in.

This month saw Glossybox go all out with the spooky theme launching two boxes - Trick or Treat, each containing slightly different goodies. And I ended up with both!

I'd actually only reactivated my sub to get my hands on the limited edition Sunday Riley box they did, but when I saw a sneak preview of the Halloween box I had to have it.

So I signed back up again, only to find I got two boxes, as if you cancel after the 15th of the month, you automatically get the next month's box anyway. Oops! But it did mean I got both variations of the box and it turned out to be a great one…

This Works In Transit Camera Close Up

Whether Trick or Treat, both versions of the box came with this. It's a product that has been in a lot of sub boxes, but luckily I love it, so I'm pleased to have been able to stock up with two.

A mask, moisturiser and primer in one, I always take this with me when I travel. It has a blend of repairing plant oils, Hyaluronic Acid, Argan and Starflower, plus a shot of caffeine and it really peps up and smooths out the skin.

It's great on parched summer holiday skin especially. It makes you look refreshed, gives a hydration hit and preps skin perfectly for makeup.

I've never had to buy a full size one yet as it regularly crops up in these boxes, but I totally would because it's a great little multi-tasker that works very well.

Luna By Luna Translucent Loose Powder

All boxes also received this setting powder which is cruelty-free and hails from the shores of New Jersey in the US.

It's a lightweight formula that won't leave you with cake face, but will get your warpaint on lock down. It soaks up any excess oil without being too matte, plus softens fine lines and pores nicely.

I've been patting it on with a Beauty Blender sprayed with Fix Plus and it gives a lovely finish. The cute little pot is also pretty - a great new brand to discover.

MUA Luxe Strobe & Glow Highlight Kit - Pearl Gold or Bronze & Sculpt Contour Kit

These pretty little kits caught my eye back when they launched, and I actually went to buy one, but they were out of stock in my local store. So to have them both here is great!

The highlighter is a gorgeous shade that is really flattering on. It's double layered, with both a cream and a powder highlighter so you can go as subtle or as shouty as you like when it comes to getting your glow on.

Layering cream and powder makeup is definitely a great way to achieve staying power as well. The powder is lovely for day on it's own, but then you can go iridescent at night with both.

With the bronzing kit, they are both powders, but one shade is lighter than the other, making it easy to achieve dimension and sculpt your face - sweep the lighter shade over cheekbones and then deepen the colour with the darker shade to carve out some epic cheekbones.

Sleek Makeup Eyeshadow Palette - Au Naturel or Oh So Special

Years ago, when Sleek first launched, I was instantly enchanted with the eyeshadow palettes, which were silky, highly pigmented and extremely bendable.

They led the charge of high quality, affordable makeup and I remember being astounded that they seemed easily as good quality as the Mac eyeshadows I'd been saving my Saturday job money for!

I collected each new launch and still have a stack of them in a drawer somewhere that I'd completely forgotten about. I definitely went through at least a couple of Au Naturel palettes as well, so this is a bit of a rediscovery for me.

The shadows are all mineral based and have great staying power too. Au Naturel is a mix of beautiful rich autumnal shimmer and matte shades, perfect for every look from night out to everyday.

Oh So Special is more of a pinks and silvers range of shades, but both are really pretty. If you haven't tried a Sleek palette, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Illamasqua Antimatter Lipstick - Energy or Nebula

The final piece in the box is a really great one - a lipstick from high end brand Illamasqua. I've wanted to try something from the brand for ages, so this was the item that had me rushing to sign back up!

It gives a lovely, flattering semi-matte finish and is really creamy when it glides on. Energy is quite a dark purple shade that would be perfect for a Halloween party, while Nebula is a hot pinky purple, and I really love it - it's bold but exactly my kind of shade, much nicer than it looked online.

These are beautiful lipsticks!

So two brilliant collections from Glossybox, who seem to have really upped their game lately - so much so that I've decided to stay subbed for another month!

Happy Halloween!
