OOTD | Frills, Fur and Frolics | Intu Autumn Event

Hi Lovelies!

A very quick post today – after my wonderful evening at the Intu Victoria Centre VIP Autumn Fashion event, I wanted to do an outfit post and show what I wore to the event.

I’ve been enjoying adding a few more new autumnal pieces to my wardrobe and beginning to return to some of my favourite items for the coming season. The Intu event gave me bags of styling inspiration and I’m finally getting excited about clothes again after almost a year post-baby of living in leggings and long t-shirts.

I feel like I’m finally getting my sense of self and my fashion mojo back a bit. I actually didn’t realise it was so important to me until I lost my way a bit after having Theo. I’m accepting now that just because I am a mum doesn’t mean my style has to drastically change.

It may have to be a little more practical in places, but I can still express who I am with what I wear. It sounds like such a little thing, but clothes can really help how you feel. I mustn’t be the only new mother to feel like she’d lost herself a little bit post-baby, even while enjoying all the new challenges.

Frilled sleeve blouse | Primark

Black ‘Leigh’ jeans | Topshop

Black ankle boots with Perspex wedge heel | H&M

Quilted ‘Mini City’ bag | Zara

Grey fur pom pom | eBay

I loved this outfit – it’s really ‘me’ but still realistic for what my life is now. Black skinnies are always my go-to, and as an apple shape (more so now with my mum-tum!) I always go for the silhouette of tighter on the lower half and looser on the top, so this ticked all the boxes.

I have several pairs of the ‘Leigh’ jeans because they’re super-soft and comfortable but hold their shape well and don’t bag out at the knees.

I haven’t gone into Primark for an absolute age – its not really ‘me’ any more - but I nipped in for some black tights the other day and I was actually pleasantly surprised by some of the stuff, including this lovely cream chiffon blouse.

Its such a nice piece because it feels classic, but the statement ruffles on the sleeve really make it feel relevant and a bit edgy. I love structural details like that on simple clothes.

On my feet, I wore some of my favourite boots ever. I own far too many black ankle boots, but these ones have that amazing clear wedge heel and a pretty almond toe that really make them stand out. They are also surprisingly comfortable to wear.

I dug out my mini city tote from Zara too as the shape just feels very right this season and its one of those magic bags that manages to hold an awful lot while still being compact.

To update it for this season, I added a furry pom pom key chain that I picked up on eBay – there’s nothing like a touch of faux fur to say ‘new season’. Adding charms like this to bags can really give them a facelift and breathe new life into old favourites.

What trends are you loving for autumn? Have you embraced ankle boots yet? Let me know!
