OOTN: Casual Date Night

Sunday 4 May 2014

Hello my lovelies!

Hope you've all been enjoying the Bank Holiday so far? I've been having a lovely, relaxed one, just chilling out and spending time with Seb.

Yesterday we braved IKEA to pick up a new chest of drawers and some bits and pieces for the house. We got there first thing because I can't be dealing with the huge crowds of people. Surprisingly, we came out without being on the verge of divorce, which is unusual- what is it about Swedish flat pack furniture that brings out the monster in me?!

We spent the afternoon at my sister in law's enjoying the sun in their garden and playing with our little niece and nephew. Then we decided to treat ourselves to the 'Two can dine' meal from Marks and Spencer's for dinner- yum! A bit of steak and a nice bottle of red.

Today we went to the gym first thing and then spent the afternoon binge-watching Breaking Bad!

Tonight was date night and we went out to a local Thai restaurant we like. It was all fairly casual so I didn't dress up, but I thought i would do a little post anyway.

Blue, black and white boucle jacket -  H&M
Black silk vest - Warehouse
Indigo skinnies- Reiss
Leopard print and Perspex pointed flats- George

And I totally made a hair breakthrough! Following a pin I saw on Pinterest, I plaited my hair into to thick braids when it was semi-dry and left it while I did my make-up.

Then I clamped each plait with my GHD's to set the wave, undid the plaits and scrunched it up with some salt spray. The result?

I love the relaxed, undone messy look of these waves. When I use other techniques to wave my hair it usually ends up looking too 'done', but this is the perfect bed hair look and it was so easy to do- I'll definitely be fixing my hair this way again!

For my make-up, I tried a couple of new products I got that I'll be posting about very soon! My foundation was a new one from Italian brand Kiko that I'm really enjoying. I did my eyes with a beautiful metallic rose shade which is from the Iconic 3 palette by new brand Makeup Revolution. A flick of black liquid liner- W7 Walk the Line and a bit of Mac In Extreme Dimension mascara and I was done!

We had a lovely evening the food was soooo good...I think Thai food is my favourite world cuisine.

Here's Seb with all the starters!

And then I followed that up with the most amazing Thai red curry:

After stuffing ourselves, it was such a lovely mild evening that we sat out in the garden a while with some wine and put some music on. Our next door neighbours, Dave and Audrey, came to join us for a while so it was really nice to have a chat to them!

Audrey runs a company from home, so she always ends up signing for our deliveries and because I'm a total shopaholic, we've had so many lately they thought it must be my birthday! How embarrassing! So I've now decided I clearly need to get help for my retail addiction...

Hope you all had a great Bank Holiday weekend so far and enjoy the rest of it! Xx

  2. That bouclĂ© jacket is so pretty! H&M? Bargain much? I can't get enough of those M&S Dine in for £10. Strong portions of main and dessert and a whole bottle to top it all off? Yes please! Rosemary x
