TAG: Spring Beauty 2014

Tuesday 4 March 2014

Yay! I got tagged by super-lovely Kerry at KerryJustBeauty for the Spring Beauty tag. I loooove getting tagged, mainly because I like reading other people's versions of the tag, and also because its good to be able to do a post without thinking of all the ideas (lazy, I know, I know...)

1. Do you change your makeup when Spring arrives? If so, how?

I don't really change my make-up drastically as a response to the changing seasons, most of the basics remain the same. I'm more about trying to aim for a particular look than a seasonal one, and I like bright lipstick in winter anyway. In fact, I would say that I try to do the opposite with my make-up to my clothes -  so if I'm wearing a white, floaty dress it would be dark red or grey nails and darker eyeshadow!
I'm all about contrast. Having said that, something about spring does make me want to reach for the blusher. I don't normally use blusher, but spring in the air makes me want rosy cheeks! Some of my favourite products for spring:

Sleek Oh So Special! Eyeshadow Palette

Nars Satin Lip Pencil in 'Biscayne Park'
No7 Pop & Glow Blush
No7 Instant Radiance Highligher

Elf Mineral Face Primer

No7 Visibly Radiant Foundation

2. What’s your favourite Spring fragrance?

I really don't change my perfume much, it's odd. I like what I like and I tend to stick to it! But I recently tried No7 English Laundry, which is a winner for me -  I'll be adding it to my collection for spring.

I'll also be using Paul Smith Floral, which lovely, light and fresh for work.

3. What’s going to be your favourite accessory this Spring?

Statement necklaces have still got mileage for me! I've recently added this clear perspex collar from Boohoo.com to my collection - it's definitely got a touch of Holly Fulton about it.

5. What are your Top 3 favourite Spring nail polishes?

At the moment, I am in love with OPI's 'Berlin There Done That', a sort of purplish-taupe shade.

Model's Own 'Tangerine Dream' is always a spring favourite - it's a pastel orange that's really cheerful.

And a recent purchase is Sally Hansen Sugar Coat in 'Sugar Fix' -  white textured polish that looks very stark and futuristic!

6. Do you prefer pumps or sandals in Spring?

I much prefer pumps. I really can't stand my feet being uncomfortable, so strappy sandals that cut into my feet are my idea of hell! I love to buy heels but my feet are an odd size and shape, and it's hard to find a pair that are comfortable! Last spring, I wore the hell out of my Ted Baker nude pumps, which are so elegant and easy.

I also have my eye on a lot of plain white plimsolls for a fresh look.

However, these tribal lace-ups from Chinese Laundry have also caught my eye so I might have to break my own rules!

7. What’s your favourite Spring Jacket?

I have to go with the leather at this point! I love this grey jacket from All Saints that zips off at the waist to make a little cropped jacket - it's years old at this point, but isn't leather better as it ages?

I also have my eye on this suede waterfall drape jacket for when payday hits - yes, its black which isn't that spring like, but I like it to toughen up lighter shades. It's from New Look, which isn't somewhere I usually shop, but this jacket looks like a beaut!

I also have a beige long trench from All Saints that was a gift from my lovely husband, and that's just an all-time classic.

8. What’s your favourite flower?

I'm wild about orchids. They remind me of my honeymoon in Thailand, and they're so beautiful. I have plenty in my house but I'm not very good at keeping them alive - they're high maintenance plants!

Tagging time!

I choose:

Amanda from Amanda In A Teacup
Eloise from Eloise's Diary
Ellis from Ellis Tuesday
Kitty from Adventures of a Riot Grrl

Look forward to reading your Spring fling posts soon! x
